About

I was always a kid who loved "deep conversations" and struggled with small talk (the bus ride home from choir tour being one of my favorite spaces for this - if you know, you know). I like to get to the heart of what's meaningful to people. I had followed a different career path until I happened to take a Theories of Counseling class in grad school and realized my social quirks were counseling attributes.

Human beings are, to me, incredible, complicated miracles. Each person’s journey is unique, and I am deeply privileged to be part of their path, particularly when they are navigating challenging times. There is something profoundly moving about being present with someone in the totality of their experience, witnessing their struggles, growth, and resilience. It’s a collaborative process, and I am continually inspired by the strength and courage my clients display.

My passion lies in supporting individuals through role-changes and identity development at all stages of the life cycle. Whether someone is transitioning into a new phase of life, grappling with changes in their roles, or striving to understand and embrace their identity, I am here to help. I firmly believe that a healthy individual can integrate their entire life history into a cohesive whole. When one can weave together their past, present, and aspirations for the future, they build resilience against life’s inevitable challenges.

Counseling can be a daunting prospect, and I understand that it’s normal to feel nervous about starting this journey. After all, our profession exists because life can present us with difficulties that are sometimes too much to handle alone. Beginning counseling requires a brave step—engaging with your struggles and starting a vulnerable conversation with someone you’ve just met.

The good news is, you’re not alone in this. We’ll proceed at your pace and prioritize your goals. I am here for you, fully committed to supporting you in whatever way you need. My approach is centered on creating a safe and empathetic space where you feel heard and valued. Your experiences, your emotions, and your aspirations are at the forefront of our work together.

In every session, my goal is to ensure you feel understood and empowered. Together, we can navigate the complexities of your journey, uncovering insights and fostering growth. It’s an honor to walk alongside you as you work through your challenges and strive towards a more integrated and resilient self.

Thank you for considering me as a partner in your journey. I look forward to the opportunity to connect with you and support you in achieving your goals. Remember, this is your space, and I am here to facilitate your path to well-being and fulfillment.

Previous to my work as a counselor, I led a 20-year career in the performing arts as an actor, singer and educator. I hold an MFA in Theatre (directing) from the University of Montana and served as theatre faculty at Gonzaga University, Whitworth University and The University of Montana. Additionally, I hold a Graduate Certificate in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies from The University of Montana. I am a married parent of two.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate with the State of Washington (#MC61565239. I regularly seek consultation from colleagues as well as my licensed supervisor, Katherine Walter, MSW, LICSW, CSW-G (LICSW #LW 60136151).
