About
Hi there! I’m Emma, and I’m so happy you’re here. Because of my own experiences, I have found a passion for helping others through their own pain. I understand many of the complexities, difficult emotions, and invalidating experiences that clients I work with may have encountered, so it means everything to me that I get to walk with others on their healing journeys.
I love counseling because it’s entirely about the client! My favorite part of my job is getting to meet so many unique people and partnering with them to explore the goals they have for themselves, whatever those may be! Counseling in general is such a unique space because it’s meant to be completely non-judgmental, which is something I always strive to be. I love to welcome all parts of somebody, and especially to bring to light and welcome the parts someone might feel ashamed about. Getting to be that space for someone is such a gift.
I LOVE working with autistic/ADHD folks, LGBTQIA+ folks of all ages, and anyone healing from trauma. Believing that change is possible is one of the biggest indicators that we’ll be successful in whatever it is we’d like to achieve! To me, healthy change happens gradually when we balance a growth mindset with being radically kind to ourselves. One of my hopes for any client is that we can identify realistic goals for change, and then explore what would need to happen in order to meet those goals. That’s going to look different for everyone, so intersectionalities will play a big role here, too! But with lots of self-compassion, motivation, and time, I think it’s amazing what we’re capable of.
I completely understand why starting therapy might be scary, especially when you aren’t sure what to expect. You’ve already taken a huge step just by reading my profile, so know that I’m already seeing your courage and dedication. I make it a goal to be as transparent about the process of therapy as possible, so we can talk about any questions you have! The cool thing about therapy is that it can be whatever you want it to be—a place to process, set specific goals, learn new skills, or even rant about your week. As your therapist, I’m your partner in whatever it is you want this space to be—and I’m so glad you’re here.
